Election of New Waceya Métis Society President

Members of the Waceya Métis Society,

Taanishi Anthony dishinihkaashoon!

(Hello My Name is Anthony),

I am deeply honoured to step into the position of President for our growing Métis community. It is with great respect and gratitude that I follow in the footsteps of our past presidents, who have laid a strong foundation for our society. I come from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, my Métis family names includes the Chenaille, Galarneau, LaPiere, Boyer, Primeau, and Genaille families, with ties to the Fort Qu’Appelle area in Saskatchewan. These connections have given me a profound appreciation for our community’s history and resilience

I bring to this role not only passion, dedication, and a commitment to ensuring that every one of our members is heard but also a wealth of professional experience. My educational background includes studies in project management and business management at BCIT, UBC, and UVIC, along with a Project Administration certificate from Royal Roads University. I have also completed the Jelly Academy and the Canadian Marketing Association program, gaining deep insights into marketing fundamentals and trends. Additionally, I attended the executive education program at the Tuck School of Business, enhancing my skills in strategy, operations, marketing, and finance.

In my professional life, I serve as the COO and co-founder of Nuez Acres®, overseeing operations and marketing efforts for the company. I also run Metisprint.ca, an apparel company that connects with the Métis Nation and offers sustainable apparel. I am actively involved with the BC Indigenous Housing Board, the MNBC Métis Business Advisory Board, and the NACCA Indigenous Youth Business Advisory Council. These roles have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of leadership, project coordination, marketing strategy, and customer service.

I look forward to meeting each of you and your families, listening to your stories of buffalo hunting, how our families survived the dark times and the famous Métis in your lineage. These stories are the heart of our community and heritage, and I am eager to hear and share in them.

In the coming weeks, we will introduce our newly elected board and announce opportunities for leadership council roles. Your input on our programs and community needs will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve our members. Additionally, the June calendar will be coming out soon, and as we transition, we aim to have a fully loaded schedule again in the coming months.

Together, we will continue to build a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community. Thank you for your trust and support.

Enn bonn zhoornii ayahkun!

(Have a good day!)

Anthony Wingham
President, Waceya Métis Society

Kind Regards

Anthony Wingham
